Season Two
In a surprise announcement on Twitter, accompanied by the Call of Duty blog, Activision has stated that Season Two of Vanguard and Warzone has been delayed in order to provide a more refined and polished experience for players. This means that the teams at Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software are focused on improving game stability and balance.
OUR PRIORITY IS YOUR GAMEPLAY EXPERIENCE
We've rescheduled the start of Season Two across Warzone and Vanguard to February 14, 2022.
We will use this added time across development to fix game stability as well as bugs, to ensure an overall level of polish for players, and to deliver updates including optimizations to gameplay and game balance.
The Call of Duty blog continues to echo this player-first sentiment, sharing that they are aware of the negative feedback players have shared recently regarding the state of these games and are focused on addressing many of these issues.
Delivering the best game experience possible across Call of Duty is our top priority. We are committed to supporting healthy games and a thriving community so that we can all play and have fun together. Your feedback means everything to us.
Vanguard and Warzone Pacific
The key details for Season Two of Vanguard and Warzone Pacific have yet to be shared at this time. However, it's safe to assume that the content update will feature multiple new Operators, weapons, and maps, alongside the typical improvements.
Leaked details regarding the content update suggest that the large-scale Ground War mode from 2019's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare may make a return in Vanguard. It's important to note that this is subject to change as it has yet to be announced.
One aspect of the Season Two launch window is confirmed, however, and that's the long-awaited release of Ranked Play in Multiplayer! This competitive-oriented mode is expected to release at some point in February, although the exact details have yet to be confirmed. Stay tuned for upcoming news and announcements related to Ranked Play from Sledgehammer Games.
Black Ops Cold War
Although Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has surpassed its primary lifecycle and is no longer receiving significant content updates, the Vanguard and Warzone Pacific Battle Pass is progressible in Treyarch's title. Because of this, those who utilize the 2020 release to grind tiers and earn rewards should be aware that they too are impacted by this delay.
Despite this, Treyarch alluded to at least one new Operator making its way to Black Ops Cold War in a future game update.
and we’re not even done updating our roster of Operators in Black Ops Cold War...
Who this Operator is or what the purpose of adding them to the sunsetted project's roster may be is yet to be determined.
